It seems as though the Philadelphia Eagles went through a quick retool and have been at the pinnacle of the sport for about a half decade now but have yet to win it all. The Eagles went 11-6 before getting bounced in the divisional round of the 2023 playoffs. They had a great squad, but they could not expect to roll out the same roster in 2024 and expect better results.

The Eagles dealt with some devastating losses this offseason, but none bigger than the loss of a franchise legend, Jason Kelce. Kelce leaves behind an offense that he was the leader of since the beginning of his career. The team will now rely on Cam Jurgens to take over the center position. You could argue that a loss just as significant to Jason Kelce’s retirement was the retirement of Fletcher Cox. Cox says goodbye to the Eagles after 12 years of pro bowl defensive line play. They also said goodbye to SAF Kevin Byard, LB Shaq Leonard, RBs D’Andre Swift and Boston Scott, LB Nicholas Morrow, WRs Quez Watkins and Olamide Zaccheaus, and CB Bradley Roby.

The Eagles had to get creative in free agency to make up for all of the loss. They were able to snag RB Saquon Barkley from their division rival. Along with Barkley came LB Devin White, DE Bryce Huff, SAF CJ Gardner-Johnson, and IOL Mekhi Becton.

In the draft, the Eagles looked to fortify that signature defense they have had for so long. With their first two picks, they addressed the secondary. With Darius Slay and James Bradberry aging, they brought in young blood with DBs Cooper Dejean and Quinyon Mitchell.

The Eagles start the 2024 season with two home games. They host the Packers to open the season and then host the Falcons on Monday Night Football. They then go on the road for back-to-back games against division opponents, the Saints and the Buccaneers. The Eagles will start the season 3-1.

They have an early bye in Week 5, play the Browns at home, and then go on the road to play the Giants and Bengals. The Eagles go 2-1 in October.

November starts at home against the Jaguars, followed by a game against the Cowboys in Dallas, a Week 11 Thursday Night Football matchup against the Commanders, and a game in Hollywood against the Rams. The Eagles go 2-2 in November.

December has a few true tests for the Eagles. Starting off the month, the team is in Baltimore to play the Ravens. They have two home games in a row against the Panthers and Steelers, back on the road to take on the Commanders, and then end the season with two home games against the Cowboys and Giants. The Eagles go 4-2 in the final stretch of the season.

The Philadelphia Eagles finishing the 2024 season 11-6 may not sound as much of a glamorous record as they have earned in years past, but the league is ever evolving, and the competition catches up. However, if they can get at least one home game in the playoffs, they could go the distance.

2023 Record: 11-6

2024 Prediction: 11-6
