The Washington Commanders have gone through a complete renovation this offseason. They hired Dan Quinn to be their new Head Coach and they also were able to get a potential franchise guy at QB. There was noise for them trading for WR Brandon Aiyuk, but that noise was quieted when Aiyuk finally signed the extension with the 49ers.

Washington lost some notable guys in the offseason. CB Kendall Fuller, RB Antonio Gibson, OT Charles Leno, andWR Curtis Samuel all found new gomes. Expect most of those guys to reach new heights with their new teams.

The Commanders need to build a new young core through the draft. With that being said, they also need to fill some holes through free agency to allow the young talent to flourish. C Tyler Biadasz, DE Dorance Armstrong, LB Frankie Luvu, RB Austin Ekeler, and IOL Nick Allegretti all signed multi-year deals. LB Bobby Wagner, SAF Jeremy Chinn, CB Michael Davis, DE Dante Fowler, and WRs Noah Brown and Olamide Zaccheaus signed one-year deals.

In the draft, they got who they believe to be their guy in QB Jayden Daniels. I am not as confident that they made the right selection. When choosing between Daniels and Drake Maye, I would take Maye every time. In addition to Daniels, the Commanders got a steal in Johnny Newton, who fell in the draft due to a nagging foot injury. They also picked up CB Mike Sainristil, TE Ben Sinnott, and WR Luke McCaffrey amongst others. I like the direction that Washington is going in, but they are a few years away from being competitive.

They start the season on the road against the Buccaneers then go back home to host the Giants, travel to Cincinnati to play the Bengals on Monday Night Football, and then go to the desert to play the Cardinals. The Commanders start the year 1-3.

Washington hosts the Browns, go back on the road to play the Ravens, and then host the Panthers and Bears in back-to-back weeks. They go 1-3 in October as well.

November sees the Commanders travel to play the Giants, host the Steelers, travel to take on the Eagles on Thursday Night Football and host the Cowboys. The Commanders go 0-4 in November.

Washington hosts the Titans before a Week 14 bye, followed by a road trip to play the Saints, two home games against the Eagles and Falcons, and they finish the season against the Cowboys in Dallas. The Commanders will go 1-4 in this stretch to end the season.

I have the Washington Commanders going 3-14 in 2024. This should not come as too much of a surprise. They may go into one game in the entire season in which they are favored to win. Their ceiling is 5 wins while their floor is a winless season.
