Caleb Williams has the legs to make him a consistent threat to defenses on the ground, but he also has the ability to launch the ball 60 yards down the field. Williams can make defenses pay with his legs just as much as he does with his arm. Once he starts running with the ball in the open field, he is one of the most difficult players in the country to tackle. The USC offense is very RPO heavy, which demonstrates Williams’ ability to completely take over any game. Williams has an incredible ability to scan the field and make his progressions while almost always making the correct read to make the most beneficial play for the offense. Williams has a unique ability to pull off any throw from any area of the field due to pure arm talent and strength. While these types of explosive plays often require a clean pocket, they don’t for Williams. Caleb is almost better when blitzed or under pressure. He has a great pocket presence, and his poise allows him to dance around the pocket until one of his receivers gets open. His ability to throw on the run and also across his body makes it so that no receiver is taken out of the play. Williams extends plays with his legs and secondaries cannot give up on their assignment just because they think the ball cannot get to their man. While he has incredible athleticism and arm talent, he also combines that with the intangibles that are necessary to succeed at the quarterback position.

When talking about weaknesses in Williams’ game, it feels wrong to highlight them because they are so minimal in comparison to his strengths. His talent leads to him wanting to make any and every throw which he can, but sometimes he forces the ball into tight coverage. It is also worth noting that his athleticism and arm strength get him by but he does not have the best mechanics by any means.

Williams has the talent and potential to truly be a once-in-a-generation talent. If he remains committed to being smart with the football, there is no doubt that he will be able to go far in the pros.
