Background: Charles Grant was an unrecruited offensive tackle out of Portsmouth, Virginia. Grant did not receive any stars or rankings in high school. He played for Churchland High School and was an all-region selection as a junior and senior. Grant was also an all-state wrestler. Charles Grant chose to play for William & Mary after his high school career.

College: Grant became a regular starter at left tackle for William & Mary in his 2021 redshirt freshman season. In 2022, Grant was a HERO Sports All-American and All-CAA First Team selection. He started all 13 games that season and did not allow a single sack. In 2023, Grant was named an All-American and again a First Team All-CAA member. Grant was once again a FCS All-American selection in 2024, solidifying himself as one of the best tackles in the country.

Strengths: Charles Grant is an offensive tackle who overwhelms opponents with unmatched length. He has the longest arms at the position in the class. Grant gets physical in the phonebooth, using a strong initial punch to knock defenders off their rush. Grant does well to establish his base and find his footing before engaging at the point of attack. He plays with an excellent patience, allowing himself to be more on target with his initial punch. Grant keeps defenders easily at bay with quick punches and long arms. His punches are not the heaviest, but they are quick and come in flurries. His length allows him to combat speed off the edge. He is able to meet defenders at the edge and prevent them from setting it. Disguised blitzes or stunts at the line do not give Grant issues, he processes everything very quickly. He is comfortable with guiding defenders up and out of the play. As a run blocker, Grant does well to find his landmarks at the second level.

Weaknesses: Grant is a taller and leaner offensive tackle. He does not win with strength or power and can be seen playing too high at times. His lean frame makes him susceptible to giving up ground to the strong defenders. When faced with a bull rush, Grant has problems holding his own. It also must be noted that played at William & Mary and the change in the level of competition will be a shock and may take some adjusting.

Conclusion: Charles Grant provides unmatched length at the tackle position. While the lower level competition is a concern, his mechanics and measurables are those of an NFL left tackle. He may not come into the NFL and be an immediate starter, but his development will lead him down that path.
