Background: Cooper Beebe is an interesting case study as he has transitioned from high school football to the collegiate level. Beebe is from Kansas City, Kansas, not the Kansas City you’re thinking of… a different one. Beebe attended Piper High School and was actually a defensive tackle. He played both sides of the ball for Piper and managed to receive All-State honors at both offensive line and defensive tackle. Despite succeeding as an offensive lineman, he was recruited to be a defensive tackle. He was a 3-star defensive tackle and had interest mainly in the Midwest region. Beebe wound up committing to Kansas State over Minnesota and Iowa.

College: He redshirted his first season in 2019 after only making one appearance at offensive line throughout the year. At that point the vision was clear, Beebe was going to be an offensive lineman for the Wildcats. Beebe has played all over the line throughout his career at Kansas State. In his first season as a starter in 2020, he was mainly a right tackle who also made a start at left guard. The following season, he was placed at left tackle for all 13 games and received First Team All-Big 12 honors. In 2022 he was then put at left guard and solidified himself as one of the best interior offensive linemen in the country. He was expected to enter the 2023 NFL Draft and I had him comfortably in my top 100 for that draft class, but he opted to return to school. In 2023, Beebe was a consensus All-American and won the award for best Offensive Lineman in the Big 12.

Strengths: Cooper Beebe is a polished offensive lineman who could have easily been a first round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but chose to return for one more season. Beebe did nothing in the 2023 season aside from solidifying himself as a top lineman in the country. Positional value aside, he is the most NFL ready offensive lineman in the country. He has positional versatility after playing all over the offensive line for Kansas State throughout his career. However, he projects as an interior offensive lineman. He can play any 3 of those interior positions, but right guard seems to be where he will fit best. Beebe has brick hands, stunning defenders and knocking them off their rush. Beebe excels in the run game where he can completely tear apart the first and second levels of a defense by running through them and leading the running back. He is an extremely physical player and seeks out new assignments as he climbs through the defense. In pass protection, Beebe handles finesse rushers better than he handles power rushers. His strong and active hands take away any chance that those smaller finesse rushers have of getting past Beebe.

Weaknesses: Against power rushers, when Beebe has his strength matched, he struggles to keep defenders at bay and often gets knocked back into the pocket. Beebe is a bit slower, to be expected with a player of his size, and he struggles when the opposition gains the first step on him. His footwork is less than ideal, which is why he succeeds more so in run blocking than he does kicking out into pass protection.

Conclusion: Beebe is one of the most polished offensive linemen in the country. He can be slotted into any offensive line and be a productive starter immediately.
