Background: Elic Ayomanor grew up in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, but he attended high school in the United States. Elic went to Deerfield Academy for prep in Massachusetts. He was a top 10 recruit in Massachusetts and a top 100 wide receiver in the class of 2022. Elic also lettered in track and ranked 8th nationally in U18 Canada in the 200m in 2019. Ayomanor committed to play for Stanford over Vanderbilt, Cal, Tennessee, and others.

College: Elic did not make an appearance for the Cardinal in 2022 but burst onto the scene in 2023. That season, he recorded 1,013 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. He earned First Team Freshman All-American and All-Pac 12 honorable mention honors. He had another productive season in 2024, catching 63 passes for 831 yards and 6 touchdowns. These numbers earned him All-ACC Second Team honors.

Strengths: Elic Ayomanor is a strong prototypical X receiver who can be an explosive weapon in the deep area of the field. He can stretch a defense vertically with his long speed and ball track ability. Ayomanor has a quick release and sudden twitch to break down press man coverage. Ayomanor has refined route running technique. He is very twitchy and gets in and out of breaks with ease. He has the body control of a slot wide receiver as he is able to contort his body to catch just about any ball. He has excellent ball skills to high point the football on the boundary and make those contested catches. Elic tracks the ball well over his shoulder. He does not have any problem with drops on deep balls. His large frame, superb body control, and soft hands provide for a large catch radius. Ayomanor is dangerous with ball in his hands. For his size, he has deceptive speed in the open field.

Weaknesses: As Elic is strictly an X receiver, he does not have experience moving around the field and has an extremely simplified route tree. He is either attacking the defense with go routes or shallow crossers. He is not an explosive athlete and will not blow any defense away with pure athleticism. Ayomanor has lapses in concentration. Drops occur when he tries to turn up the field before looking the ball in. He relies too heavily on his size to create separation at the catchpoint. Instead of stacking receivers, he waits until he can almost push off the corner and use his frame to create that needed separation.

Conclusion: Elic Ayomanor is a physically imposing wide receiver with the long speed to take the top off defenses. He needs to show more discipline in the short areas to eliminate his drop problems. He will get a more expansive route tree in the NFL and will have some growing pains. Look for Ayomanor to come in and be the X receiver for his team.
