Background: Jared Wilson is originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina and attended West Forsyth High School in Clemmons. Wilson was a 3-star IOL in the class of 2021. He was a top 30 player in North Carolina and a top 25 player at his position. As a senior in high school, Wilson was named an all-conference and all-state selection. Wilson chose to play for Georgia over Alabama, Ohio State, and others.
College: Wilson was a reserve offensive lineman for his first two seasons on campus before becoming a starter for the Bulldogs. Wilson was a key piece of one of the best offensive lines in the country in 2023. In 2024, Wilson was an All-SEC Second Team selection as the center.
Strengths: Jared Wilson is a center who moves all over the field. In the run game, he does well to shoot out of his stance and into the pads of defenders. He moves to the second level with speed in order to pick up another assignment and create running lanes for the ball carrier. Wilson uses his momentum and speed to simply lay out second level defenders. He is an incredibly violent player in the run game. He also displays excellent footwork in pass protection. He relies on a strong anchor to sit back and absorb power rushes from the bigger interior defensive linemen. Wilson has strong hands and a quick first punch to knock opponents off their rush. Wilson does well to get low and win the battle of leverage in the phone booth. Wilson handles counter moves with ease. He is an elite processor at the line and has no problem with recovering to get back in position. He diagnoses stunts and twists at the line quickly to stall rushers.
Weaknesses: Wilson does not have the most advantageous measurables, which may lead to him being picked on by the bigger rushers in the NFL. While he is fast in open space, his footwork is slow. He can get put on his heels instantly if his opponent is explosive enough. Jared Wilson does not have the desired versatility from a center to play either guard position, he is strictly a center.
Conclusion: Jared Wilson is a powerful and athletic center who will be an impact player right away. While positional value will cause Wilson to fall in the draft, he will show his abilities immediately. The team that selects Wilson will see an instant improvement in their ability to run the ball between the tackles.
