School: Alabama

Class: Senior

Position: WR

HT: 6’0

WT: 196 lbs

Sideline Prospect Ranking: #65

Background: Jermaine Burton was a top 10 wide receiver in his recruiting class. He is from Atlanta, Georgia but moved to Calabasas, California and played for Calabasas High School, the same school that produced fellow wide receiver Johnny Wilson. He was a 4-star wide receiver and he received multiple awards and all-state selections during his time at Calabasas. Jermaine Burton committed to his hometown Georgia Bulldogs over LSU, Oregon, and many others.

College: Burton spent two years at Georgia and played in 24 games for them. He had 901 yards in those two seasons combined, totaling 8 touchdowns. He led the team in yards per catch and was on track to be a great Georgia wide receiver. After those two seasons, Burton announced his decision to transfer to Alabama. In his first season at Alabama, Burton started in 12 games. He totaled a career best in receiving yards with 677. Jermaine Burton put up career highs in just about every statistical category in 2023.

Strengths: Burton is a speedster of a receiver, he is a 4.3 speed kind of guy and it translates to the field. He does not just have straight line speed either. He is able to remain in that top gear no matter the route he is running. Not only is he one of the fastest players in the draft, but he does not come in a small package. Burton is a physically imposing receiver who does not rely purely on speed to win the rep. He has long arms and violent hands. He uses his arm chop effectively to create any kind of separation.

Weaknesses: Jermaine Burton’s glaring blemish to his resume is character. He has a long list of character issues or incidents that have occurred, just in his two years at Alabama. He also never quite lived up to his potential in any season. He always seemed to underperform relative to his expectations. Situational factors definitely contributed to that because the talent is there.

Conclusion: If Jermaine Burton is given the opportunity to develop and play his game without being buried on a depth chart, he could blossom into a star receiver. He has plenty of untapped potential.
