Position: IOL

WT: 302 lbs
Sideline Prospect Ranking: #73
Background: Layden Robinson is an interior offensive lineman that has played all over throughout his career. In high school, he was his team’s center. He was a 3-star OC out of Manvel, Texas and attended Manvel High School. He was named as a member of the District 11-5A First Team and was an All Star three seasons in a row. Robinson was not heavily recruited like some of the other top players in Texas, so his options were a bit more limited. He chose to stay home and commit to Texas A&M over Syracuse and Nebraska.
College: In Robinson’s first two seasons at College Station, he was a reserve that saw action sparingly. 2021 saw Robinson start all 10 games, moving over to right guard. Being a center for his whole career up to that point, it was a significant change. Robinson built on that momentum in 2022 by once again being the starting right guard. He was a model of consistency that has been able to clear the way for 1,000 yard rushers. Robinson was an everyday starter for the Aggies in 2023. He was steady at the left guard position.
Strengths: He is quick out of his stance and to get his hands into the chest of his opponent. Robinson has heavy hands that makes his initial contact stunning for defenders. He knocks them off their rush and rarely gets displaced. He has a strong foundation. His lower half is strong enough to anchor into the dirt in pass pro. Robinson has excellent footwork in pass protection. A quick first step allows for him to get out and establish dominance in the phone booth. He does not have to lunge out or get greedy with his hand placement because of his ability to explode out of his stance. He is patient and has fantastic spatial awareness within the pocket. As a run blocker, he loves to put defenders in the dirt. His explosiveness out of his stance allows him to get out in space before the first line of defense has a chance to make him miss. He executes pulls very well. He does well to execute a pull and immediately find work when he gets to his spot.
Weaknesses: Robinson struggles when it comes to combating the smaller, shiftier defensive linemen or linebackers. Finesse rushers give him problems as he is not the most athletic guy. He is a good chip blocker, but he requires help when handling twists or stunts as he struggles to get himself squared in time.
