Background: Miyan Williams was a 3-star running back out of Cincinnati, Ohio. Williams played for Winton Woods High School and had a more than productive high school career. He rushed for 5,823 yards and 68 touchdowns for Winton Woods. As a junior, Williams was the runner up for Ohio Mr. Football. Williams was a top 15 player in the state of Ohio. As a senior, he won the district offensive player of the year. Being an Ohio native, Ohio State was always a heavy favorite to land the running back. Williams committed to Ohio State over Michigan, Iowa State, and other Big 10 programs.

College: Every year that Miyan has been a Buckeye, he has received recognition for academic excellence. He has thrived both on the field and in the classroom. He has clawed his way to the top of a crowded running back room throughout his career, producing no matter who he is competing with. In 2022, when he was splitting the backfield with TreVeyon Henderson, he was named Third Team All-Big 10.

Strengths: Miyan Williams is a powerful back with a strong lower half. His legs are powerful and active; even when met with contact, they continue to push forward. He is a power back who can come in to gain a much needed yard or two. His stats at Ohio State are not reflective of his ability due to his usage. Treveyon Henderson was the early down, workhorse running back while Miyan Williams was put in the game when the Buckeyes needed a few extra yards. His yards per carry are much lower than what his potential is. Williams has less mileage on her tires than most running backs coming out of college, which will make him a more attractive option than most. Williams is a short yardage back, but he also has quick footwork and a certain elusiveness that make him a threat to cut to the outside and gash the defense. In the passing game, Williams is a consistent safety net. He seems to be a guaranteed 5+ yards on any pass into the flats.

Weaknesses: Williams is not an all-around back, though. He does not have the speed or acceleration to get to the perimeter. He will also have trouble, once he does find open space, to leave defenses behind without getting hawked down.

Conclusion: Miyan Williams has plenty of untapped potential and tread on his tires due to low usage at Ohio State. What he can be as a focal point in a backfield is relatively unknown, but he can certainly fill the role of short yardage specialist.
