Background: Oluwafemi Oladejo was a 3-star linebacker out of Elk Grove, California in the class of 2021. Oladejo was a top 100 linebacker in the class and a top 75 player in California. Oladejo played for Cosumnes Oaks High School, where he played defensive end, linebacker, and tight end. He helped his team reach the Division II playoffs in each of his two varsity seasons. Out of high school, Oladejo committed to play for Cal over Arizona, Fresno State, and Utah State.
College: Femi was an instant starter as a true freshman in 2021. He totaled 38 tackles and 3 tackles for loss. As a sophomore in 2022, Oladejo recorded 91 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and a sack. In 2023, transferred to UCLA. In his first season with the Bruins, Oladejo recorded 54 tackles, including 3 tackles for loss. In 2024, Oladejo experienced a breakout season as a senior. He played both inside linebacker and edge rusher. He recorded 57 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks.
Strengths: Oluwafemi Oladejo is a linebacker who turned into an edge rusher late in his college career. His background as a linebacker is ever apparent when he is lined up on the edge. He shows incredible instincts in the run game for the edge rusher position. Oladejo tracks the ball in the backfield well and is able to penetrate gaps with ease. He is a sure tackler and finds ways to consistently bring the ball carrier down behind the line of scrimmage. Oladejo has the speed and bend to win around the edge with consistency. Oladejo explodes off the line to get into the pads of offensive tackles. His strong upper body combines with his leg drive to create unmatched force on the edge. He walks opponents back by converting this speed to power and putting them on their heels. Due to his background as a linebacker, his coverage skills are much more refined than the average edge rusher. He is able to sink back into coverage and has a great feel for the play developing around him.
Weaknesses: Femi Oladejo is newer to the edge position, so he may need some time to fully polish his craft in the NFL. His pass rush shows just how raw he is. He has yet to flip the switch with technique and tends to rely on athleticism or power to win. He tends to ride his speed too far up field and can take himself way behind the play.
Conclusion: Oluwafemi Oladejo is a playmaking edge who has plenty of untapped potential that we have yet to see. He will take some time to develop and become the player that he can be. He has all the tools to be a total disruptor on the edge.
