Sideline Prospect Ranking: #10

Peter Skoronski is an extremely sound offensive lineman. He has top tier versatility and can be a day one starter for any team, at any position. Skoronski was a 4-star prospect that was heavily recruited by the Big 10 schools, but ultimately chose to stay home and go to Northwestern. Peter’s grandfather, Bob Skoronski, captained Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers from 1959-1968, so his family already has an extensive football background. This football background shows in Peter’s game through his football IQ, he is a highly intelligent Tackle who can succeed in a variety of offensive schemes. Skoronski has the tape to tell you that he is the most technically sound and smartest offensive tackle in this class. Pass rushers do not have a single, clear way to succeed against Skoronski, he has put a variety of pass sets on film to show his versatility. He has an extremely strong base and hands that stack the defenders and push edge rushers back. He has such a firm anchor and no matter what the rushers throw his way, he is able to create a strong foundation to keep them at bay. Skoronski has great athleticism for his size and plays with a high motor. He is able to push defenders back, take them out of the play, and climb to the second level with relative ease. Skoronski is always looking for work, no matter if it is helping on a blocking assignment or getting to the second level to make sure defenders can’t make open field tackles. While Skoronski is positionally versatile, he is also scheme versatile. I project him to have a great amount of success in both zone and gap sets at the next level.

Skoronski’s weaknesses, unfortunately, are mainly things out of his control. His size is something to be concerned about when it comes to NFL caliber Offensive Tackles. His 32 2/8 inch arms would put him at just the third percentile amongst all Offensive Tackles in NFL Combine history. His wingspan of 79 ⅛ inches would put him in the first percentile. These measurements are the main reason why many people believe he would be better suited to play guard. While I believe he can succeed at tackle, and there is a good chance that he is drafted by a team that wants to stick him on the outside right away, I would put him at Left Guard.

When looking at the film, it is clear and obvious why Peter Skoronski is one of the top prospects in the draft. He displays good fundamentals and process in his sets, while very rarely getting overwhelmed while completing his assignment. His football IQ and how smart he is overall is always on display, which may be a good reason as to why he went to Northwestern. His length may be something to be concerned about, but it should not slow him down due to his positional versatility.
