Background: Princely Umanmielen is from Manor, Texas and was a 4-star defensive end. He helped Manor High School make multiple appearances in the 5A Division 1 state playoffs. He ranked in the top 10 at his position in the entire country for his class. He had a dominant high school career against some of the best competition in the country, totaling over 130 tackles. Princely chose Florida over Texas, Baylor, and Auburn.

College: As a true freshman in 2020, Princely had 2 sacks across the 6 games that he played. Umanmielen began to start for the Gators towards the end of his sophomore campaign, but did not generate a ton of production. He was a regular starter for the 2022 season. He had 9.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks on the season. In 2023, Princely was a Second Team All-SEC selection for the Gators. He was able to get 7 sacks and 11.5 TFLs for Florida. Before the 2024 season, Umanmielen transferred to Ole Miss. He had a dominant season for the Rebels, notching 13 TFLs and 10.5 sacks on the season. He was given All-SEC First Team honors after an electric year. Princely also thrives in the classroom as he is a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member.

Strengths: Umanmielen has a quick first step that generates power to knock offensive linemen off their foundation. He explodes off the line with rare speed for the position. He sets the edge with speed but wins reps with his power and wide range of pass rushing moves. Umanmielen is rangy enough to clog multiple lanes as a run defender. He has the change of direction and patience to wait until the running back tests a gap before shooting up to meet him in the gap. Princely also shows a willingness to get involved in open space. He shows off that speed by hawking down ball carriers in the open field as if he were a linebacker. He is big and strong enough to kick inside and play 3 tech if needed. His football IQ is tested by being deployed all over the offensive line. He is able to diagnose blocking schemes quickly in order to put himself in an advantageous position.

Weaknesses: Umanmielen can get stalled off his initial rush without a plan for a counter attack. While he does have a lot in his toolkit, he struggles to use it on the counter. As a pass rusher, he has the hip and ankle flexion to get low and around the edge, but when rushing the interior he plays too high. As a run defender, he does not consistently contain at the line. Too often he is delayed to get around the edge and opens up a rushing lane for the ball carrier.

Conclusion: Princely Umanmielen wins with power and violence as an edge rusher. His versatility makes him an attractive defensive line prospect as he can plug up the middle while also rushing the passer off the edge. Umanmielen can be a plus starter in the NFL right away.
