Background: Quinyon Mitchell was a 3-star cornerback who was yet another freak athlete out of Florida. Mitchell, originally from Williston, Florida, played for Williston High School. At Williston, he was both a cornerback and a running back. He lettered 3 seasons and put up godly numbers. Totaling 19 pass breakups and 8 interceptions while also having a near 1,000 yard rushing season in 2019, he was one of the most dynamic players in the country. Quinyon Mitchell chose to play for Toledo over offers from Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, and a few others.

College: Mitchell has played in every game that Toledo has had in his career there. In 2021, he was second on the team in pass breakups and by 2022, he was First Team All-MAC. In 2022, he led the country in passes defended with 25. Quinyon Mitchell had another dominant season in 2023. He was able to tally 14 pass break ups and an interception in a season that would put him at the top of most cornerback rankings. He was named a Second Team All-American and for the second straight year he was named All-MAC First Team.

Strengths: Mitchell is an athletic cornerback that displays tremendous body control and movement skills. His ability to get his hand on any football, from any angle, is second to none. He is somewhat of a magnet for the ball and always knows how to make a play. Scheme does not matter with Quinyon Mitchell. He has succeeded in both zone and man coverage during his time at Toledo. He reads the quarterback’s eyes well and can anticipate throws before they happen. Mitchell also has fluid hips that allow him to stay tight to even the shiftiest of receivers. Quinyon Mitchell is a willing tackler who gets downfield in a hurry. He is an excellent defender of the run for the position. He plays with a mauler mentality.

Weaknesses: This mauler mentality can put Mitchell in some less than desirable positions and he can get burnt because of it. When he does get caught, he does not have the proper recovery skills to get back into position. While he is athletic and extremely fast (4.3 speed), he takes poor routes to players at times.

Conclusion: Quinyon Mitchell is a speedy corner with scheme versatility. He can be left on an island and shut down top receivers while also being able to play zone coverage and read the quarterback's eyes in order to anticipate and make a play.
