Sideline Prospect Ranking: #79

Sean Tucker is a consistent workhorse that has always given the Orange reliable production out of the backfield. While looking at his size and his estimated 40 time of around 4.5 seconds, you might assume Tucker is a power back. However, Tucker is extremely agile and is able to cut on a dime to squeeze through the smallest gaps. He has great football speed and if he sees any green in front of him he has the ability to instantly turn the burners on and leave defenders in the dust. His light feet and somewhat stocky frame provide him the ability to stay up and balanced through contact. Ever since he was a freshman, Tucker has been one of the most productive running backs in college football. He has also been a part of Syracuse Track & Field for his collegiate career as well. Players who also participate in track often have an easier time adjusting to the speed of the NFL game, so it is always a plus when reviewing player resumes. When Tucker is on the field, defenses absolutely have to be on their toes, at any moment he can take the ball and score from anywhere on the field. He is a dynamic athlete that can provide track speed on the football field. It seems that the general consensus is that Sean Tucker’s weaknesses come in the passing game.

He is not a good pass blocker and doesn’t know how to really use his body on chip blocks to stall edge rushers. He also has inconsistent hands when targeted. When he does haul in the ball, he struggles to turn up field and use that speed and athleticism we see from him on handoffs. If he can become a more consistent blocker and catcher of the football, he has a chance to be special. Tucker will more than likely be a 2nd option in whatever backfield he joins next season, but has the potential to take over as the primary workhorse if he works on his pass catching ability.
