Background: Shavon Revel was virtually unrecruited in high school. From the Winston-Salem area, Revels spent the first three years of high school at Reynolds High School before transferring to Reagan High School. Revel was a star on both sides of the ball in all four years of high school. He also competed in track in the offseason. Out of high school, Revel chose the junior college route, playing for Louisburg College.

College: Due to COVID, Revel was only able to compete in a total of 6 games in JUCO. After two seasons, Revel transferred to East Carolina. Revel played in 9 games in 2022 but became a starter in 2023. Shavon was a Second Team All-American and First Team All-Conference in 2023 after tallying 12 passes defended. Unfortunately, Shavon tore his ACL early in the 2024 season, so he comes into the draft with some injury concerns. Length allows him to get hands on the ball. Plus athlete. Physical at the catch point. Plus run defender. Finishes tackles easily.

Strengths: Shavon Revel has incredible measurables for the cornerback position. He has functional arm length which he uses to consistently make plays on the football. Whether it is a pass breakup or an interception, footballs are not safe when they come his way. Revel is a magnet for splash plays. He generates turnovers frequently, whether it be a tipped pass or an interception. Revel plays with physicality to assert dominance on the boundary. He does not get bullied by the bigger wide receivers; he is the one that does the bullying. He excels as a press corner back, using his strength to jam receivers at the line of scrimmage. His physicality also shows up in the run game. He is a plus run defender in the secondary as he uses his arm length to wrap up ball carriers with relative ease. He is a willing tackler who can make his presence known in the run just as much as he does as a coverage cornerback.

Weaknesses: Shavon Revel suffered a big injury in 2024, leading to him missing the entire season. His athleticism and movement skills will be tested immediately to start his NFL career to see if he can hold up. While he does dominate close to the line of scrimmage, as the route develops, Revel tends to get handsy, leading to penalties. While Revel excels in man coverage, he is lacking in zone coverage. He does not have a great feel for the field in zone coverage which can lead to blown coverages.

Conclusion: Shavon Revel Jr has elite measurables for the cornerback position combined with upper body strength to make him a physically dominant player on the boundary. If he can fully recover from a brutal ACL injury, his game will translate to the NFL immediately. It will take him time to feel comfortable in the NFL due to the injury, but he has all of the tools in his bag to do so.
