Background: Tre Harris was a lightly recruited 2-star wide receiver out of Lafayette, Louisiana. Tre was not even a top 2,000 recruit in the class of 2020 and barely snuck into the top 100 players in Louisiana. Harris played for Comeaux High School as a quarterback. After high school, Harris committed to Louisiana Tech and switched to wide receiver.
College: He made 21 starts at wide receiver during his time with the Bulldogs. He was a First Team All-Conference USA member in 2022 after recording 935 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. After the 2022 season, Harris transferred to Ole Miss. In his first year with the Rebels, Harris totaled 985 yards and 8 touchdowns on 54 receptions. These numbers were good enough to get Harris named to the All-SEC Second Team. Harris had his best season in 2024. He was an All-SEC and All-American selection after recording 60 receptions for 1,030 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Strengths: Tre Harris is a physically imposing wide receiver who has put up consistent production for the entirety of his career. Harris is a true threat in all three areas of the field, but he makes his money as a deep threat on the boundary. He does not shy away from physicality at the catch point as he uses strength to go up and snag those contested balls away from defenders, no matter how tight the coverage is. Harris has long arms that he combines with elite athleticism to bring down footballs that would be seen as difficult grabs for other receivers. As a route runner, Harris has a great understanding of leverage and is able to get in and out of breaks easily to set up and stack cornerbacks. Harris is hard to bring down as a ball carrier. He is a strong runner who will typically survive initial contact and break free for extra yards where others may have gone down.
Weaknesses: Harris can look like he is running in quicksand at times. He does not have fast feet or the speed to separate vertically. Harris’ routes are too rounded and he does not provide any suddenness to his route stem. He relies too heavily on size and strength to bring down the football instead of getting himself open. Harris struggles to combat speed or length from the opposition.
Conclusion: Tre Harris is a big X receiver who has a solid build and the length to be a contested catch artist. While he does not have a ton of contested catches on tape, he has displayed flashes of what he can be at the next level. He will need to refine his route running technique in order to be a better separator.
