Will Levis was a 3-star recruit from a small town in Connecticut. He has always had the arm talent, even in his early high school days. Levis originally committed to play his college ball at Penn State. The Nittany Lions were really the only Power 5 program to offer Levis a scholarship, so he took it. Levis couldn’t earn himself a starting spot at Penn State and before the 2021 season he transferred to Kentucky, where he would become a two year starter. Will Levis is incredibly gifted when it comes to raw athleticism. He has the best arm in the class and has the ability to make any throw look effortless. He is also a threat with his legs despite what his 2022 rushing stats say. Turn on the tape and you will see a QB who may not have Lamar Jackson or Justin Fields speed, but he is able to move his body and use his legs to stretch defenses. It seems as if the Kentucky offense in 2022 became extremely one dimensional and wanted to get away from letting Will Levis create with his legs too often. His offensive line was also extremely poor which resulted in collapsing pockets and quick pressure, making it hard for Levis to make plays. Levis has an extremely quick release and can throw across his body with ease. If scouts have questions about Levis, they are certainly not about his arm talent.

Where questions do arise with Levis are his decision making and mental processing. He has a difficult time moving off of the first read and when he does, he is usually airing it out, trying to create something out of nothing. In 2022 it was hard to find game tape of Levis consistently burning a defense all game with his arm. He just didn’t do it. There were plenty more check downs and quick passes at the line of scrimmage versus using his talents properly. There is no doubt that the 2022 tape was disappointing for Levis considering everyone’s expectations for him coming into the year. Whatever team takes him is going to have to be okay with a project piece that will deal with learning curves.

Overall, Will Levis has many physical traits that are appealing to teams in need of a franchise quarterback. He will have to prove that he can put it all together at the next level on a consistent basis. With proper coaching and a good system fit, there is no doubt that Levis can be molded into an NFL caliber quarterback.
