Bralen Trice Scouting Report
By: Michael Higgins

Class: Junior
Position: EDGE
HT: 6’4
WT: 274 lbs
Sideline Prospect Ranking: #51
Background: Bralen Trice was a 3-star recruit in high school out of Glendale, Arizona. Trice attended Sandra Day O’Connor High School where he was able to get 16 sacks in two seasons. He did not play for a well-known high school football program but was listed as the no. 6 prospect in the state of Arizona. Trice had plenty of offers and plenty of interest from not only west coast programs, but prestigious programs such as Alabama and Notre Dame. However, Trice ultimately committed to Washington.
College: In Trice’s first season at Washington, he was buried in the depth chart and redshirted. In his second season, Trice was mainly a depth piece and did not see any game action. His 3rd season at Washington was finally when he started seeing consistent reps in a rotational role. He appeared in all 12 of Washington’s games and started 2 of them. 2022 was really Trice’s breakout campaign as he started all but one game. Trice earned 2nd Team All-Pac 12. His 9 sacks were the 3rd most in the PAC 12 on the season. He was later named the team’s Defensive MVP for the 2022 season.
Strengths: Bralen Trice is a powerful defensive end. He uses strength primarily to win reps over offensive tackles. He works his way into the pocket by pushing back the offensive lineman and knocking them off their foundation. Bralen keeps a good pad level with his hands as he keeps leverage with a low center of gravity and pushes up on the opponents’ shoulders. Trice has been a productive defensive end and can wreak havoc from the edge but can also perform stunts into the interior. His quick burst and explosiveness allow him to be so effective in the stunt game. In the run game, Trice is incredibly instinctive and frequently catches the ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage. He is a sure tackler who can bring anyone down with a brute force. While being a bigger defensive end, he is no slouch in pursuit as he is never completely out of a play. Trice never stops moving and he plays through the whistle every snap.
Weaknesses: Trice’s weaknesses make up a short list but they are certainly noticeable. Trice’s size leads to him being a bit more slow and stiff. He does not have much hip or ankle flexibility off the edge and he struggles mightily to win with any type of finesse. Trice is often over eager in the backfield and is susceptible to RPO fakes. There have been countless times where he seemingly guesses which player will end up with the football and tackles whoever he is closest to. When he chooses incorrectly, it gives the offense a free lane to run.
Conclusion: Trice will be best suited to play in a rotation in order to allow him to get his feet wet in the NFL. He is a well-rounded player and can work his way into becoming a three down player.
