Edefuan Ulofoshio Scouting Report
By: Michael Higgins
School: Washington
Class: Senior
Position: LB
HT: 6’1
WT: 236 lbs
Sideline Prospect Ranking: #41
Background: Edefuan Ulofoshio was a 2 star recruit in high school. Ulofoshio is originally from Anchorage, Alaska and as a freshman he played for South High School in Anchorage before transferring to Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas for the final 3 seasons. Ulofoshio won 3 straight state championships with Bishop Gorman and was a part of a team in 2015 that was ranked no. 1 in the country. As a senior in 2017, Edefuan was named to the All-State 2nd Team as both a linebacker and a defensive end. Edefuan Ulofoshio had a somewhat mild recruiting process. Washington was his only Power 5 offer and he ultimately chose to play close to home for the Huskies instead of Boise State, Army, and Robert Morris.
College: He redshirted his first season at Washington but in 2019, he played in every game. He also earned Pac 12 All-Academic Honors. 2020 was his breakout campaign, he was named honorable mention All-America and was 2nd Team All-Pac 12. He missed the last half of the 2021 season due to injury, but he showed flashes while healthy. He then missed the first eight games of 2022 due to injury as well. After two injury riddled seasons, Edefuan was finally able to stay healthy in 2023, playing in all 15 of Washington’s games. He was 2nd Team All-America and 1st Team All-Pac 12.
Strengths: Ulofoshio has developed into a premier outside linebacker for the Washington Huskies. He has excellent athleticism and flies around the field on every play. After not having as many games on his resume due to injury, he has plenty of room to grow at the next level. Ulofoshio is an excellent tackler and has no issues wrapping up ball carriers in the open field. He has experience as an edge rusher and it shows. When asked to blitz, he has a large repertoire of pass rushing moves to set the edge. As an off ball linebacker, he has to be quite a versatile player, a jack of all trades, and that is exactly what Ulofoshio is. He tracks the ball well and rarely is deceived by double moves behind the line of scrimmage. When playing the run, Edefuan is excellent at weaving between the tackles and meeting the ball carrier for a tackle for loss. He is a fluent mover in space and can cover tight ends tightly in man coverage.
Weaknesses: Ulofoshio has the potential to be a star, but he does not come without flaws in his game. He will not survive the NFL at 230-240 pounds. He will need to add around 10 pounds of muscle to be a solid weight for an NFL linebacker. Additionally, Edefuan struggles to clog running lanes. He almost has this eagerness to come out of nowhere to make a tackle instead of just filling his lane.
Conclusion: Edefuan Ulofoshio is one of the best off ball linebackers in the country and someone I am quite bullish on. His list of weaknesses is rather nit picky as he has all of the tools and traits to be an NFL star.
