Background: Jamaree Caldwell was an unrecruited offensive lineman in high school out of Newberry, SC. For Newberry High School, Caldwell split time at both left tackle and left guard.

College: Caldwell spent the 2021 season at Independence Community College, where he switched to the defensive side of the ball. After not having a huge impact at Independence, Caldwell transferred to Houston. As a sophomore in 2022, Caldwell spent his first season in Houston making an impact in a rotational role for the Cougars. He finished the year with 3.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. His role expanded in 2023, where he became a leader along the Houston defensive front. He finished the season with 27 tackles. 8.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. Caldwell parlayed this productive season into one final transfer for his senior campaign. Caldwell transferred to Oregon for a chance to win a national championship. He started every game for the Ducks. He and Derrick Harmon posed one of the most dangerous defensive tackle pairs in the country. Caldwell finished his season in Oregon with an honorable mention All-Big 10 selection after recording 29 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and three pass breakups.

Strengths: Jamaree Caldwell is a presence on the interior. He is a throwback defender that really handles the trenches for his defense. He is such a stout defender. He keeps linebackers clean by collecting blockers. He maintains gap integrity and does not shoot the gaps without a plan to bring the ball carrier down. He has great reach due to solid length and excellent change of direction ability. Caldwell does a good job of anchoring himself to create leg drive and knock back offensive linemen. Despite his massive frame, Caldwell is able to squeeze through gaps to wreak havoc in the backfield. As a pass rusher, he has a decent variety of pass rushing moves for a 1 tech. His combination of size and light footedness makes for an overwhelming matchup for an interior offensive lineman.

Weaknesses: Jamaree Caldwell does well to start the rush but has an issue with missed tackles or taking himself out of position. Whether he is struggling to follow the ball carrier or just lunging at a bad angle, Caldwell consistently misses tackling opportunities. At times Caldwell can play with his pads too high. His rush gets stalled far too quickly and he does not have a counter rush plan.

Conclusion: Jamaree Caldwell is a large presence on the interior and is a tall task for any interior offensive lineman. He will be able to dictate the trenches and halt the run game by himself. He also provides pass rushing upside at the position. He needs some polish to his overall game, but he could be a very reliable piece for a defense.
