Background: Jaxson Dart was a highly touted 4-star quarterback out of Kaysville, Utah. Dart was the 2020 Gatorade National Player of the Year. Dart was a First Team All-American as a senior for Corner Canyon High School. Dart was also twice named an all-state selection in baseball. Dart was the top player in Utah and a top 10 quarterback in the class of 2021. Dart committed to USC over BYU, UCLA, Washington State, and Arizona State.

College: As a true freshman at USC, Dart started 6 games, making quite the impression in a small sample size. After one year at USC, Dart transferred to Ole Miss. He threw for 2,974 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also began to show what he can do with his legs, rushing for 614 yards. Dart was an All-SEC honorable mention in 2023 after throwing for 3,364 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just 5 interceptions. 2024 was Dart’s best season as a Rebel. He was an All-SEC First Team selection after throwing for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions.

Strengths: Jaxson Dart is a quarterback with incredible arm talent. He can make any throw on the football field and always has access to all areas of the field. Dart is a quick processor and gets through his progressions quickly to make the right play. Dart has shown success in faster paced offenses where he can catch defenses on their heels and recognize lapses in coverage. Dart gets the ball out quickly with a tight release. When plays break down, Dart shows an ability to make a play on the move. Dart can still sling it when throwing on the run. He can also guide receivers open on the fly after a route stalls. Jaxson can consistently make plays with his legs. He will not blow you away with speed, but he can pick up chunks of yardage at a time with his legs. Dart does not abandon the pocket prematurely and waits for the most opportunistic time to use his legs.

Weaknesses: Dart has accuracy issues that have yet to show any signs of improvement throughout his time at Ole Miss. The deeper the throw, the more sporadic the ball placement. It seems that when he throws a deep ball, he does not entirely know where the ball will end up. Windows in the deep and intermediate areas of the field are going to be much tighter in the NFL. He will need to show significant improvement to his accuracy in order to have regular success at the next level.

Conclusion: Jaxson Dart has a lot of potential to succeed at the next level due to his physical tools. A natural leader with the arm talent and quick processing skills sure seems like a recipe for success. He will need to find control on a majority of his throws.
