Background: Quincy Riley was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2019 out of Columbia, South Carolina. He was outside of the top 1,000 recruits in the class and was a top 130 cornerback in the class. Riley attended AC Mora High School, where he was an all-district player. Additionally, Riley was a trackstar for AC Mora. Out of high school, Riley originally committed to Middle Tennessee State.

College: At Middle Tennessee State, Riley was an All-Conference USA First Team selection in 2022. After two productive seasons at Middle Tennessee State, Riley transferred to Louisville. In 2023, Riley recorded 11 pass breakups for the Cardinals on the way to being named an All-American.

Strengths: Quincy Riley is a cornerback with true long speed to keep up with the fastest of wide receivers. His track background directly translates to the football field where you see him get out of his backpedal and into his full sprint while staying in phase every step of the way with his opponent. He has fluid hips that allow him to match receivers stride for stride. Riley’s length and overall range combine for a great zone cornerback, while his footspeed, fluid athleticism, and physical nature create a productive man coverage cornerback. Riley is scheme versatile. He has a thin build, but his length is shown when wrapping up the ball carrier. He is a consistent tackler in the open field and a plus run defender. Riley displays solid ball skills. He is physical at the catch point to fight for the ball and consistently getting his hands on the football.

Weaknesses: His wiry track star build makes him vulnerable to being outmuscled on the boundary. Riley loves to get physical, but it can come as a detriment to his game in certain matchups. He will likely not be matched up with the bigger X receivers on a normal basis. He is a great matchup for those thinner and more elusive runners. His physicality can lead to him getting a bit grabby in coverage, leading to penalties.

Conclusion: Quincy Riley can be an effective starting cornerback in the NFL early in his career. He has all the physical tools. He may need time to gain more mass to hold up on the boundary, but his athleticism and ball skills tell the story of an impact player.
