Background: Jordan Morgan was a 3-star offensive tackle from Marana High School in Marana, Arizona. Playing for Marana, Morgan earned All-State honors as a senior. He was able to help lead his team to 3 straight state playoff appearances during his high school career. While he was mainly a left tackle in high school, he also saw action on the defensive line, tallying 30 tackles as a senior. Morgan also competed in Track & Field throughout high school to capitalize on his athleticism. Being from Arizona, Jordan Morgan’s recruitment was strictly narrowed down to the southwestern region of the country. He committed to Arizona over USC and Arizona State.
College: As a true freshman in 2019, Morgan appeared in 6 games, starting 2 at left tackle for the Wildcats. By the 2021 season, Morgan was the full-time starter at left tackle and didn't look back. He started the final 11 games of the season after coming back from injury. He followed that up in 2022 by starting 10 games and being named to the First Team All-PAC 12 in 2022. In 2023, Jordan Morgan is a 5th year senior. Morgan was named a consensus All-PAC 12 First Team member in 2023 after yet another outstanding season. He was the captain of a high performing offense at Arizona.
Strengths: Morgan is an extremely athletic tackle who moves well for his size. He is a smart football player and exhibits a high football IQ. He diagnoses defenses quickly and reacts well to stunts. He does not lunge forward and instead waits for defenders to meet him in the phone booth. He absorbs contact well, anchoring his lower half stunt rushes off the edge. Morgan is effective against power rushers due to his ability to absorb contact. His athleticism and superb footwork shows in pass protection. He has a quick sidestep, causing edge rushers to have to use counter moves. Morgan has strong hands and an inescapable grip. His heavy hands are also active, knocking defenders back with consistency. In the run game, he is able to move to the second level of the defense after finishing his original assignment. As his career progressed at Arizona, he showed more of an aggressive willingness to seek out defenders.
Weaknesses: Morgan does have occasional issues with pad level. He can be seen getting too high on the pads and losing the leverage battle at the line of scrimmage. He is not the longest player, so a loss of leverage like this can be detrimental.
Conclusion: Jordan Morgan can be special in the NFL, but he needs to make up for what he lacks in size with proper fundamentals on a consistent basis.
