Background: Ozzy Trapilo is a homegrown talent out of Norwell, Massachusetts. His father, Steve, was an All-American offensive lineman for Boston College and spent time in the NFL. Ozzy prepped at Boston College High, where he was a top 20 offensive lineman in the class of 2020. He was a 4-star offensive tackle and top player in Massachusetts. Trapilo was named a 2019 MIAA All-State First Team member. Ozzy Trapilo chose to stay home and play for Boston College over Georgia Tech, Michigan, and others.

College: Trapilo redshirted in 2020 and played in 10 games with 2 starts in 2021. Ozzy was the starting left tackle by 2022 for the Golden Eagles. In 2023, Trapilo was an All-ACC Second Team selection after starting 12 games at right tackle. He did not allow a single sack in 2023. Trapilo was the starting right tackle in 2024 and was an All-ACC First Team selection.

Strengths: Ozzy Trapilo has been an anchor for the Boston College offensive line for the entirety of his career. Trapilo brings a massive frame to the position that makes it difficult for edge rushers to get around him. Trapilo has a strong inside shoulder and plays off his interior offensive line counterparts well. He hands off work and takes on twists with ease, he is not susceptible to getting beat consistently on either shoulder. Trapilo gets low enough to establish a wide and strong foundation. He is hard to knock off his anchor and can stall rushes from any type of rusher due to his frame and strength in the phone booth. Trapilo’s size forces edge rushers to abandon the B gap and attempt to set the edge. Due to his width, the rushers must take much wider angles to the quarterback. As a run blocker, Trapilo finds his landmarks in the second level and brings a violent “mauler” attitude to his blocks.

Weaknesses: Despite the massive frame that Trapilo provides, he only has 33-inch arms. 33 is not a miniature number, but it is not the number you hope for from such a tall tackle. Trapilo struggles to get low in his stance due to how tall he is. He can play with too high of a pad level and allow rushers to gain leverage under his pads. Trapilo’s footwork needs a decent amount of work. He gets clumsy when getting off the line and can stumble over his own feet at times.

Conclusion: Ozzy Trapilo provides a massive frame with a ton of experience. His presence alone is a tough ask to beat for defenders. He will allow the quarterback a lot more space to work with due to the angles that rushers have to take to beat him. He will need to get lower on a more consistent basis in order to be relied upon on the left side, but he can be a difference maker earlier than people may think.
