Background: Roman Wilson was a 4-star wide receiver out of Honolulu, Hawaii. Wilson played for the Hawaii football powerhouse, St. Louis High School. Roman Wilson had over 1,000 receiving yards to help his team reach the state championship game as a senior. This would cap an incredible run of 4 straight state championships for St. Louis during Wilson’s time there. He participated in Nike’s The Opening and was an All-Tournament selection at the Pylons Elite. Wilson was selected to play in the 2020 Polynesian Bowl. Roman Wilson chose to play for Michigan over California, Oregon, and UCLA.

College: Roman Wilson played in every game as a freshman in 2020. He had 9 receptions on the year as a depth receiver and primarily showcased his abilities on special teams. Wilson became a starting receiver by 2021 and was one of their leading receivers in terms of yardage. It was his best season statistically after taking a step back in 2022. He has been productive both on the field and in the classroom, earning All-Big 10 honoree. Wilson had a career year in 2023. As the focal point of the passing game, Wilson was a 2nd Team All-Big 10 selection. Roman Wilson is a stronger, more compact wide receiver.

Strengths: He combines this strength with a deep threat ability, giving him an interesting skillset as a smaller player. He is able to make contested catches due to that strength in his arms. He can simply wrestle footballs away from defensive backs. These qualities mitigate what some might say about his smaller stature as a deep threat receiver. He tracks the ball well over his shoulder. He has not displayed any consistent struggles with high pointing the football or tracking the ball. It is also worth mentioning that Wilson managed to stay relatively healthy throughout his time at Michigan. No significant injuries.

Weaknesses: Wilson’s drawbacks are a smaller list. He had a very specific role at Michigan. He was somewhat limited due to the fact that Michigan was a run-heavy offense. Wilson has trouble creating separation and too often is forced to make those contested catches.
