Sedrick Van Pran Scouting Report
By: Michael Higgins
School: Georgia
Class: Junior
Position: IOL
HT: 6’4
WT: 310 lbs
Sideline Prospect Ranking: #62
Background: Sedrick Van Pran was a top-100 recruit in the class of 2020 out of New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Warren Easton High School and became the best ranked OC in the country. Van Pran started all four seasons in high school and was a captain for three of them. He was named to the USA Today First Team in 2018 and participated in the Under Armour All-American Bowl. While also being a football star, Van Pran also competed in Track & Field in high school. Being from SEC territory, those are the schools that were the most involved in Sedrick’s recruitment. Sedrick Van Pran committed to Georgia over Alabama, Texas A&M, and Florida.
College: Van Pran has been a consistent brick wall at the center position for the Bulldogs, starting a total of 30 games over the span of two years. He hasn’t missed a single game in the two seasons he has been a starter. Being a back-to-back champion from the SEC, he has displayed the ability to contribute to a dominant brand of football against a high level of competition. Sedrick Van Pran elected to return to Georgia in 2023 and he solidified his positioning as one of the best centers in the draft class. Sedric participated in the 2024 Senior Bowl.
Strengths: Sedrick Van Pran is a brick wall at the center of the Georgia offensive line. He is one of the leaders of the team and the most experienced. With a first-year quarterback in Carson Beck, Van Pran took on the role of offensive leader, which certainly helped Beck’s steady improvement as the season went along. Sedrick excels in run blocking where he can push forward as a mauler, finish his blocking assignment, and move to the second level of the defense. Van Pran shows his athleticism in zone blocking where he can lead full slide protection. He’s physical at the point of attack and isn’t afraid to get dirty. Van Pran is a beast in the run game but he is also extraordinary in pass protection. He maintains a wide base and anchors his feet, not allowing even the biggest of nose tackles to knock him off his foundation.
Weaknesses: However, when it comes to pass protection, his upper body mechanics could use some work. His hands are not active and he loses leverage with poor hand placement in the phone booth. Van Pran’s measurables at the combine leave a lot to be desired. He is tall enough but his hands are small and his arms are fairly short for an offensive lineman.
Conclusion: Sedrick Van Pran is one of the best run blocking offensive linemen in the country and if he can sharpen up his game in pass protection, he will blossom in the NFL.
